Truely… No Place like Home!

Home means different things to different people I guess.  For those of us who had relatively good, “easy” lives where the atmosphere was usually calm, home has a different definition than it would for someone who was in a home where abuse of any kind took place or was always full of tension and strife.

To me, now, with a wife and kids of my own, it’s taken on a whole new meaning.  Now, home is a place where I am known and seen (the real me), with all my weaknesses and shortcomings exposed, but yet still loved!  There really is nothing better!  I have a loving, beautiful, Christ honoring wife whom I can bare the depths of my soul to.  She’s someone I can laugh and cry with when life has it’s ups and downs.  I have 2 awesome, hyper, sometimes destructive kids who show me the same love, affection and respect no matter what kind of day I’ve had.  Home to me now is a safe place, a refuge from the world spiritually, emotionally, and physically.  That doesn’t mean we are complete introverts, but everyone needs a place to rest and recharge  and I know for me that wouldn’t be the case if Christ wasn’t the core that everything else revolved around!

So no matter what home meant to you before or maybe even what it means now… If you want it to be a safe haven for you and your family, focus on Christ and line up everything else under His headship.  That’s easier said than done, I know, but the peace that follows is worth it all!
